Mark “Awful” Alford: Banking On Big Donors, Not Missouri Families

A political-cartoon style illustration of a generic male politician at a podium, his arms controlled by visible puppet strings held by two large, faceless figures labeled “Corporate” and “Super PAC,” with a faint rural landscape in the background.

Mark “Awful” Alford wants you to think he’s fighting for Missouri. The truth? Every move he makes in Washington benefits his big corporate donors and super PAC sponsors — not the families, farmers, and workers of Missouri’s 4th District.

Biomanufacturing and Jobs Act: On August 5, 2025, Alford reintroduced this bill to expand USDA’s BioPreferred Program. It sounds good — until you see who’s applauding. The Corn Refiners Association and other agribusiness lobbyists, who pour money into political campaigns, are thrilled. Why? Because it gives them bigger markets and bigger profits, while small family farms see little to no real benefit.

USDA Reorganization & Kansas City “Hub”: Alford bragged about helping bring a USDA hub to Kansas City — except he had nothing to do with it. The plan was set in motion years before he ever set foot in Congress, during the Trump administration in 2019. This is political credit-taking at its worst: pretending to deliver something he simply inherited.

Defense Spending & AI Policy: Alford pushes defense appropriations and high-tech AI legislation like his career depends on it — because it does. Defense contractors and big tech PACs keep his campaign funded, and in return, he delivers votes that keep their profits soaring. Meanwhile, Missouri still struggles with crumbling infrastructure and patchy rural broadband — issues he rarely addresses in a meaningful way.

The pattern is clear: If you’re a corporation with a big checkbook, Mark Alford is your man. If you’re a rural Missourian trying to make ends meet, you’re an afterthought.

When I’m elected as your congressman, I will work for you — not the lobbyists and super PACs. Missouri’s future belongs to its people, not to out-of-state corporate donors.
